Homemade Natural Antibacterial Handwash

Conventional hand soaps are often quite drying and contain a mountain of harmful, man-made ingredients. One ingredient very commonly found in antibacterial hand soaps is Triclosan. This chemical has been found to effect muscle strength and even reduce grip by 18% with long-term use.

And then you have all of the preservatives, thickeners, stabilisers and perfumes included in pretty much every product you can buy in a shop. It is clear then, that conventional hand soaps are less than optimal so I thought I’d share my recipe for an antibacterial hand soap that is completely gentle, moisturising, organic and so easy to make at home!

Ingredients Required: (to fill two average sized dispensers)

  • 200ml of organic liquid castille soap
  • 200ml of water
  • 2 tsp organic Jojoba oil
  • 5 Drops of organic tea tree oil
  • 5 drops of your preferred organic essential oil
  • Simply combine the ingredients to together and mix well.

This recipe is perfect for anyone who suffers from dry skin or skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. if you do have dry skin condition then I recommend to always follow with a homemade natural organic moisturiser. Shea butter is a fantastic moisturiser and emollient. This wash is even gentle enough to use on the face and body but I would add more oil for use as a body wash. Because this recipe contains water it has a shorter shelf life than other products and should be used within a month.

Let me know what you think if you try it and whether you swear by any other hand soap recipes!
