Could vitamin D deficiency be linked to allergies?

New research has examined the link between vitamin D and allergies. It studied one year old infants and their parents and focused on the allergens peanut, egg, cows milk and shrimp.

The research found that those with vitamin D deficiency were three times more likely to have egg allergy and eleven times more likely to have peanut allergy. This study highlights the importance of vitamin D supplementation during pregnancy.
